Monami Ohno is Japanese artist who used to do 3D animation, but once she discovered a new medium she couldn’t stop using it. The medium is pretty much unusual and makes her sculptures one of a kind. Cardboard from Amazon boxes turned out to be a fun material for making sculptures of various pop culture images and an everyday object such as beer cans, chocolate bars, even sneakers that can be put on (pic below)! A number of details is what makes these sculptures truly fascinating. Each piece is composed of multiple parts intricately pieced together allowing Monami to impressively achieve various textures, patterns, and features.
“I tried making something out of [the boxes],” she explains for My Modern Met, “found out that cardboard is a surprisingly fun medium to work with, and from there I really started getting into creating with it!”
Check out what came out of this knowledge – the cardboard art by Monami that is simply amazing. Scroll down the gallery to see for yourself. My favorite piece among Monami’s numerous works is Doc’s time-traveling automobile from “Back to the future” beloved movie of my childhood. Share with us your pick!
