Fans of great Salvador Dali prepare to be thrilled! But I really doubt that there is a person in the world who will stay indifferent about the paintings that you’re about to see in the gallery. Most of you will be simply amazed by surrealistic paintings of Jacek Yerka, a famous Polish painter of fantasy worlds and landscapes.
Yerka is an established artist who won international awards for his art and has had exhibitions in Warsaw, Dusseldorf, Los Angeles, Paris and London. He is born in Poland where he studied fine art and graphics and in 1980 he became a full-time independent artist. Interesting thing about his work is that he never fell for elements of contemporary art, but he stubbornly continued to work in the classic style he still favours to this day.
As Yerka was inspired by great classic names in the history of art, so his work during a time became an inspiration for other artists and even for movies. Yerka inspired the fantasy writer Harlon Ellison to write 30 short stories which along with Yerka pictures constituted the publication entitled “Mind Fields”. The same American publisher “Morpheus International” released the album “The Fantastic Art of Jacek Yerka”. In 1995 the artist was awarded the prestigious World Fantasy Award for the best artist which made him an esteemed representative of the science fiction stream of art.
Take your time to enjoy his work presented in the gallery below and pastoral atmosphere of the Polish countryside which provides a solid, mimetic foundation for much of Yerka’s art.
