The chances are you probably run into these photos on the Internet already cause it’s been about two years since Kaija Straumanis, a U.S based photographer and grad student, took them and they went viral. If you see the Stuff Being Thrown At My Head gallery for the first time – great! But otherwise we think this is something that has passed the test of time and it’s just the right timing to remind ourselves of the interesting photo series.
Kaija has done a series of photos taken at the very moment when some object is hitting her right in the head – ouch! This interesting experiment has turned out very good, great actually, and we hope Kaija didn’t suffer any injuries during the shooting. Yet, if you look carefully, some of the objects must’ve caused a pain that is not so negligible. Nevertheless, and what is the most impressive about these funny portraits, her eyes stayed incredibly focused in every photo, no matter how strong the punch was.
If you look them once again you may realise that these photos can have a deeper meaning and not just an amusing first effect that we all experience when going through this gallery. It can be a representation of Eureka moment when a person realises some important fact that was hidden to them until this very moment when it was least expected. According to her Flickr, some of the images have ideas behind them – the ice scraper, for example, is the sudden realisation that the beautiful fall colors of the trees around her signal the onset of winter.
