In January 2012 the original post about the fish chicken smoking a cigarette by Redditor Gennycraig reached 571 points before being archived.
The mind-blowing effect created a hilarious reaction and it spread around the Internet really fast (let’s be honest, we thought WTF is this and LOLed ).

The image has its own Facebook page with a small but enthusiastic following of 60 people.
Meme Generator, in January 2014 dedicated to the fish chicken a gallery with 73 derivative instances, and in May of the same year, Android mobile released a game app inspired by it called Flappy Bird (when you have a game inspired by you, then you know you made it).
The success followed in 2016, when a reverse image research on Karma Decay showed 24 and counting unique Reddit posts with the image. However, they say the sky is the limit and Reddit proved not to be enough for our Fish Chicken Smoking a Cigarette because it went and took over Twitter as well.
