” Beauty is found everywhere ” according to Romanian photographer, Mihaela Noroc who ventured on a very challenging quest to document diverse examples of beauty around the world, more than two years ago. She features extremely attractive photos of women from over 37 countries around the world. She has been to different countries like Brazil, Tibet, US, and Iran but one of the most remarkable land she ever visited is the isolated and most rarely photographed country in East Asia, the North Korea.
Noroc had the memorable chance to include the rare look at beauty of North Korean women in her series, The Atlas of Beauty as she travels in the cities of Wonsan, Sinuiju and Pyongyang. In her photos, she mirrors the delicate beauty of each woman, from the student to factory workers to waitresses depicting a distinctive nature of few of North Korea’s 24.9 million population.
“North Korean women are not familiar with global trend but this doesn’t mean that they are not preoccupied with their look. They are definitely!” Noroc wrote in Boredpanda. “They have passion for high heels and usually wear classic outfits, always accompanied by a pin, on the chest, representing one of the country’s leader. During celebrations and special occasions, they wear traditional colorful outfits.”
The Romanian photographer is raising funds through Indiegogo to continue her series and journey around the world until she has enough material for her book. “My goal is to continue and take photos of women from each country of the globe, showing that beauty is in our differences.”
