At a first look you might think the image below is an arachnophobe worst nightmare , but take another look and see that its actually a very flexible women. This image and many others like it are the work of the very talented body painter Emma Fay who transformed this model into a giant tarantula using water based paints
It took the 27 years old artist five long hours to create this incredible detailed creature and you can below there is a seahorse and a leggy giraffe too. Contortionists Lowri Thomas and Bath Sykes were covered in layers of paint to transform their bodies into these awesome animal artwork
Emma said “This series of transformations is based on the marvels of the natural world”
She continues ” The animals featured in this work are both linked to evolution and both have developed over long period of time ”
First she asks the model to get into the initial pose and marks where they will be, the models can hold their positions for only about 5 seconds so she have to work fast to get it right
She then keeps painting and repositioning the model until they get it just right.
One of her models Beth Sykes is also a circus performer , a fire eater , acrobat and stilt walker
Other projects that included Sykes was her transformed into a lizard , an alien from the movie avatar , a tiger and other wild animals
She says her flexibility is not all natural, it comes from years of training . she used to train six days a week before and after school. and she loved every minute of it
The results speak for themself
