If you’ve always wondered what are those not-so-great 3D animations that you sometimes spot on the web, here we are to answer all your questions!
Poorly Made 3D Animations are videos or GIFs – either original or parodies of famous animations – that are, quite frankly, of very bad quality.
On YouTube, poorly made 3D animations have become a real trend and there are several amazing ones you should check out if you haven’t seen them yet.
One of the first ones to become famous on the web was Colin’s Bear Animation, an animation made by Colin Sanders for his art class as his final assignment.
In the video you can see a bear dancing to “Funky Monkey Dance” from the Nintendo game Mother 3. The video was uploaded by one of Sander’s friends on Youtube at the end of 2007, and since then it has gained millions of views.
The video was one of the first poorly made animations which people fell head over hills for.
During the 1990s, similar animations were often present in bowling alleys, and would appear every time someone bowled. Ever if these were not on the internet, they were also fairly popular and very poorly done.
Poorly made 3D animations spread
A couple of years after the animation by Colin Sanders, YouTuber wendyvanity (now ‘madcatlady’) posted her poorly-made animations rendered in Daz, a software for 3D animations.
She managed to get some fans, specifically because her content was very particular and unusual. The videos she posted often included text-to-speech voice acting.
This was the case, for example, of her most popular video to date: “meow! sad toy cats.wmv which during the years got hundreds of thousands of views.
Her videos “Meow meow I am a cat” and “Tom R. Toe” are also among some of the most famous ones.
The trend then spread among other YouTubers, who have posted on the platform several 3D animation videos using text-to-speech.
If you’d like to check out the most famous, here are a few: seinfieldspitstain, ratboygenius, madcatlady, chriddof, FunVideoTV and Really3D.
