Oakland based artist Gabriel Schama loves to work with wood and precision cutting laser. He creates amazing densely layered wood relief sculptures that sometimes twist, sometimes intersect and overlap each other to create a mandala-like forms and pieces. The process is pretty straight forward, he begins with a vector illustration which is then fed into his laser cutter that for some reason Gabriel likes to call Elsie and the final step is to take all the pieces and glue them together by hand. What you below are just a number of recent sculptures he produced after a successful Kickstarter project but there are more pieces in his shop.
