If you’ve gassed up recently, then you may have remembered how much it used to cost in the middle of 2022. Thank goodness that time is over!
At one point last year, the average price of gas was $4.67 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association.
The last time Americans had to pay that much for gas was back in 2008 during the financial crash and recession.
Why were gas prices so high?
Unfortunately, a big part of the reason gas prices were so high was because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. American and European Union sanctions were in place, which hampered Russia’s ability to sell crude oil.
But as difficult as the situation was and, for some areas, continues to be, we can at least try to laugh at the financial pain together.
