The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the worlds oceans , it is in the western Pacific Ocean to the east of the Mariana Islands , the trench is 2550 kilometers long and it reaches a maximum known depth of 36,069 feet . at the bottom of the trench the water pressure is around 15,750 psi which is over 1000 times the standard atmospheric pressure at sea level , here are some of the amazing creatures living there :
1 : Fanfin Seadevil – Seadevils are part of the anglerfish family even though they don’t have lure, the males can only grow to size 1/2 an inch while the females can grow to about 8 inches , males will fuse themselves onto the female and breed them like a parasite , they share the female bloodstream
2 : Hatchetfish – this fish has a special organ that is capable of producing its own light , they can be found at depths ranging from 600 to 4500 feet. this is also the reason why they need such organs
3 : Fangtooth – the fanegtooth has the largest teeth of any known fish in the ocean although its size is only six inches . its all in proportion of its body size , so with that amazing fact it will still be easy prey for a tuna fish if it comes to the surface
4 : Enypniastes – this amazing transparent creature leaves nothing hidden , it lives in depths of 16,400 feet down . notice the red area as the mouth with tentacles around it , this thing is scooping up edible mud from the seafloor
5 : Dragonfish – Just like the anglerfish the dragonfish can produce its own light , its a six inch fish that produce light from underneath its chin to attract mats and prey . the walls of his stomach are pitch black , to hide the light of any unlucky prey
6 : Footballfish – The name for this fish came from its shape like a football , it uses its bulbous lure to attract prey and just snatch it up with its jaws
7 : Goblin Shark – males can weigh up to 463 pounds , this terrifying shark can be between 8 and 13 feet long and was first discovered in 1898
8 : Barreleye – yes , this fish has a transparent head , it can be found in depth of 2000 feet and it has very sensitive eyes . the green lenses you see about each eye is used to filter out little light that comes down in those depths and focus on the lights of its prey
9 : Telescope Octopus – looking like a ghost , this octopus has rotatable eyes which gives him an incredible range of vision
10 : Viperfish – looks terrifying but can only grow to size 12 inches , the viperfish can be found it depths of 5000 feet . its teeth are so long that they actually curve back towards its eyes and wont fit in its own mouth
11 : Frilled shark – this amazing looking shark has 300 trident shaped teeth that are neatly aligned in 25 rows , it is believed that this shark breaks the record for gestation periods among all sharks taking three and a half years to give birth
12 : Hirondellea Gigas – living in depth as deep as 30,000 feet , their guts produce special enzymes that are capable of digesting what other fish consider trash . they are size of 2 inches and have a shrimp like look
13 : Ping-Pong Tree Sponge – can be found in 9000 feet deep , the ping pong tree is a carnivorous that can reach 20 inches in height , they are covered in tiny hair hooks that catch any small creature passing them by and then slowly but surly small cells move towards the prey and digest it
14 : Dumbo Octopus – living at depths of 11,000 feet this creature lives of worms , the name dumbo is because of its obvious big ears
