A kitten named Smurf, from Northern California was allegedly abused and dyed bluish purple is now recovering after being allegedly used as chew toy for dogs or other animals.
This 7-week old kitten which was found and rescued with bite marks all over his body is only less than two pounds.
He was then sent to the San Jose Animal Care Center and then transferred to Nine Lives Foundation for care.
Dr. Monica Rudiger said that there are many stories of animals used as bait for other animals. She said that they are not literally killed by a dog but they are severely wounded.
There are weird people out there who find delight in hurting these defenseless animals and use them as play toys for dogs.
SMURF update! Today SMURF was playing with his 2 new friends, feeling so much better! Thank you to everyone who has called & visited ! The foundation cleaned all the wounds of Smurf and they are planning to do a surgery on him. Fortunately, he is getting better and recovers fast.
Smurf’s story has soon broadcasted in local news and numerous concerned citizens have gone to visit him and offered some help by giving medicines, food and other supplies necessary in his shelter.
Many interested people wanted to adopt Smurf and bring him home but this poor kitten has to recover from an operation before he can be brought home.
Smurf’s story hopefully will inspire people to raise awareness on cats’ animal cruelty and abuse.
