Say hello to Molly Moore and her 6-months-old golden retriever puppy Wesley

Moly works at the veterinary clinic owned by her father, Jim Moore and she lives in Spring Lake.
As you can see Wesley is an adorable puppy, but he has some teething issues

” Once his adult teeth started coming out, we noticed they were coming in wrong and he was unable to close his mouth fully. ” Molly said

” He wasn’t playing with his toys and he was losing weight, it was very worrying for me, and we needed to do something for him to be pain free and live a happy puppy life”

Amazingly, Molly’s dad is a specialist in veterinary dentistry and he had the skills to make a difference – dog braces
It is an unusual technique, but Jim Moore says it can actually help animals with dental problems. ” We don’t place braces or any oral appliances in the mouth for aesthetics. We do this for pain or function.”
Molly adds ” A lot of people don’t understand, they think we did this so he won’t get picked on in the playground, but there’s a serious medical reason.”
The condition is called malocclusion and the American Veterinary Dental College says this occurs when the teeth are not able to fit comfortably when the dog closes his mouth. sounds painful right?
Jim Moore rarely does this procedure, maybe only four times per year, but he says the braces will help Wesley have a healthier life.
For obvious reasons, Wesley was placed under anesthetic while the braces were affixed to his teeth
You know this feeling all too well if you ever had braces
Here’s the final result. Wesley is showing off his adorable smile with his new shiny braces
” He’s just so cute with them on, I feel like that’s what i looked like when i got braces at 12 “
Wesly only needs to wear the braces for a few weeks so he won’t be hiding for much longer
Don’t worry Wesley, you’ll be back to you old self in no time
