The world has just got the longest glass-bottomed walkway and possibly the scariest one. This is because of the fact the walkway is 180m (590f) above ground. It is located in Shiniuzhai Geopark in Hunan, China, is 300m (984f) long and linking the two peaks of Stone Buddha Mountain. On its place used to be a wooden bridge, which was already unpleasant to walk over at such height, but 11 engineers who constructed new solution obviously wanted to double the “scary effect”.
The glass bridge is made of double-layered glass that is 24mm (0.94in), and it is 25 times stronger than regular window glass, so it’s pretty secure, but effect of the transparent bottom makes it really terrifying. You can see on the photos below reaction of people crossing it; it’s no wonder it’s already called “the hero bridge”.
