Starving dog Alex almost died after being neglected , surviving only by eating rocks and twigs before being rescued by animal lovers.
This is a heart warming story of a brave dog named Alex , who was obviously being neglected and wandered the streets for a long time and reaching to the point of near death before his life got turned around for the better by awesome animal lovers . seriously we cried a little when first reading this story
Alex was picked up by an animal control center in New Orleans, he was on his way to being euthanized before the Southern Animal Foundation decided to take him in
When his rescued came , they saw what they could only describe as a terrified , emaciated and severely neglected dog
But when they approached him they found that Alex was an adorable loving dog who never stopped being a kind loving animal
” He was still so nice and sweet and forgiving despite , obviously , the neglect he suffered for sometime ” said Deanna Theis who is the assistant director of the Southern Animal Foundation . a no-kill rescue organization
Theis saw a picture of Alex on a local website for local animal control center and decided she have to save him
” How he survived is pretty much a miracle ” said Deanna Theis . He was extremely close to death

Specialists at the Southern Animal Foundation tried to restore Alex health but they overfed him and his stomach bloated significantly
The situation was serious , Alex required surgery because his stomach had flipped in his torso
But the operation was a success !
This is Alex feeling better and weighing 43 pounds , he is on prescription diet that will hopefully help him to gain weight
