When you browse the internet on a daily basis, you see a lot of stuff, but it’s not every day you see someone like Kimiko Nishimoto. This 89 year old grandma has been taking hilarious selfies for the past 17 years and she also edits the photos by herself and posting them on social media.
Who said that the young rule the internet? Kimiko actually never knew she loved photography and that she was pretty good at it until the age of 72, her son was teaching a class about photography and she decided to join in and listen. From that moment on, she found out not only that she loves to take pictures and goof around, but that she actually handles the camera better than most.
Nishimoto style is of the comical nature with a lot of self-humor, what makes this even more unique is her advanced age we think. ( Which proves completely that age is only a number ). Fast forward ten years from the moment she began snapping her unique photos, and she got featured in a solo exhibition at a museum in her home town of Kumamoto.
Now she’s about to get another honor and be featured at the Epson Epsite Imaging Gallery in Tokyo. The exhibition name will be ” Asobokane ” which is ” Let’s play ” in English. Fitting name for the type of work Kimiko creates. It’s been told that together with her most popular work, you will also get a chance to see never before seen photos by the original artist, so if you travel Tokyo between December 15 2017 and January 18 2018, be sure to check this out. And for anyone who’s reading this who thinks they’re too old to do something new, or that ” I missed my chance ” PLEASE THINK AGAIN.
