Swimming as a kid, everyone tried to view both the surface and underwater world at the same right. there is something magical about the experience to watch both above the surface and below, Photographer Matty Smith has turned this childhood game into an art form. Half submerged in water he takes beautiful photos of both worlds, sometimes the photos have a sense of dread as they show crocodiles lurking just below the surface and other times, you can see the beauty of gorgeous tentacles below a jellyfish. Matty was born in the UK but moved to Australia to pursue his passion, he has the whole Pacific ocean as his canvas to create magical images, he started photographing in his teens when he bought a waterproof case for his SLR ” For me one of the most wondrous parts of any dive is the moment that the water engulfs my mask as my head slips below the surface, I thinks it’s the suspense of the unknown of what lies beneath, the transitional part of moving from one element to the next that feels so magical and the thought of what alien creatures I might encounter ” Visit Matty’s website here
