Dutch startup Knops designed a good-looking device that works as a volume button for your ears and you can now get full control of the surrounding sounds wherever you are and whatever they’re like. Especially it’s convenient for people who are often disposed to loud noises and it can prevent hearing damages. The device was designed by musicians, no surprises there.

Background noise can be adjusted by turning the simple knob on the side of the knops.

“Instead of using electronics to try and synthesise something artificial, we’re taking the actual sound waves that come into your ear, and modifying them,” says Arjen de Jong, founder and head of technology at Knops, who has a PhD in acoustics.

“so, what you hear is the actual, physical pressure wave, as it was already arriving into your ear.”

The volume button for your ears Knops has four possible settings – from natural hearing to total cancellation of surrounding noises.

The design is in the shape of a gramophone, it’s stylish and hardly noticeable. Which makes this product even more desirable
