The once popular actress Renee Zellweger haven’t been doing any movies in the last few years, but with this new biopic about the life of Judy Garland, she could be cooking a big comeback!
After watching the trailer it’s easy to see that Renee is looking to break into ( or back ) to the mainstream again by giving a heartfelt performance. Zellweger plays the role of Judy Garland and it looks like she was the perfect match to cast.
Just by looking at the trailer it’s easy to see the great fit between the talented actress and the role of Judy Garland and we are already excited about this movie just from the trailer.
The story of Judy Garland
Judy Garland has a tough story to tell, she suffered heartbreaking abuse for most of her life by most of the people in her life ever since she was a little kid. The story is not an easy one to see, but this movie promises to shed some new light on her life experiences and try to get the viewers connected with the person she was.
Here’s a short story line from the movie for those who don’t know the events of her life:
” Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform in a sell-out run at The Talk of the Town. It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom in The Wizard of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown.
As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. Featuring some of her best-known songs, the film celebrates the voice, the capacity for love, and the sheer pizzazz of “the world’s greatest entertainer.”
The director who took on the movie is Rupert Goold which was nominated two times for the prestigious award Tony and also two time Olivier winner. Along side Renee Zellweger will play Finn Wittrock who you can remember from the hit American Horror Story, Jessie Buckley will also appear and Michael Gambon from the famous Harry Potter series.
The movie will be out on Sep 27 of this year and we can’t wait to see it.
