For some people, Christmas season begins when “ber months” enter in. At the start of September, they are getting excited to prepare their houses for Christmas decorations and they are about to set up the center stage for the Christmas tree. It may only take a while for some to set up these Christmas ornaments, but for Sylvia Pope, hanging more than 2,500 baubles on the ceiling of her house in Swansea, South Wales is a total different story and she is definitely enjoying it.
This 73-year old grandmother, meticulously pins each of these baubles in her ceiling for Christmas as early as September.
It all started when Pope attended a friend’s party in 1999 and saw the ornaments on the ceiling. She was amazed at the baubles hanging on the ceiling and resolved to adopt it on her home. At the moment, she has 2,530 baubles on her ceiling. Some of these collections were acquired through her grandchildren who gave her gifts from vacation.
Others came from her friends who went to other pàrts of the world and bought it for her. This year, some ornaments she acquired came from Dubai, Brussels, and Vienna. A few weeks ago, she also bought for herself during her trip to Prague.
Pope enjoys seeing these ornaments in her ceiling together with her grandchildren.
One of her great grandchildren, loves to come over to gaze upon her ceiling with amazement. She usually plays with them by asking them to find something in the ceiling and they’re all enjoying it.
Pope doesn’t have a traditional christmas tree but she set up a bauble tree of ornaments arranged together in a shape of a tree.
According to her, she spent a lot of money for these collections over many years but it’s all worth it especially when she sees her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren enjoying her collections.
While others are celebrating the Halloween in October, in her house, they are celebrating Christmas because of the baubles.
