A few London-based designers have created something truly remarkable. When it comes to plants, they usually become larger than their original container as they grow and have to be moved to a new vessel. This process is often messy and annoying. The Designers from Studio Ayaskan created a solution to this problem with an origami-based pot that evolves with the plant over time as it grows. It is simply called GROWTH, this shape-shifting object is sleek and a perfect companion to the vegetation’s life cycle, from seeding to its full grown size.
The way Studio Ayaskan see it is that we humans manufactured merchandise, we produce things, use them until we don’t need them anymore or they have exhausted their purpose and later we throw them away. In nature it doesn’t work this way, everything adapts, grows, dies and is eventually reused to form new life. ” Nothing stands still, Panta rhei. Everything flows ” the designers say.
GROWTH works by using a carefully calculated pattern that mimic what nature has mastered, the pot moves with the plant, so we not only see the organism transform but the object too. This is something unseen before in these products and it’s a perfect complement to this amazing process. Check out Ayaskan website for more info: Website
