Everybody say hi to John Lopez . John is a bronze sculpture . He was born and raised in a ranch in western south Dakota . he has been working on for the past ten years on The city of presidents project in Rapid city SD , The job security that this project formed allowed John to start experimenting with his art and opened him up for new styles and he branched out into different forms of sculpturing. one of these new styles is what you see in the pictures below. it is simply called ” scrap iron sculpturing ” Be sure to visit his website and facebook page to show your support
This awesome new style began two years ago , when his aunt died in a car accident and Lopez decided he would build a family cemetery in his late aunt ranch, so he moved there for the project, his beloved aunt will be the first of his family to be laid there
His uncle opened his ranch to john and let him work in the welding shop where Lopez started building a fence to surround the new cemetery. When he run out of material just as he finished it , he realised the ranch is located 35 Km from the nearest town..
So he began experimenting with scrap he found on site. he build a gate for the cemetery and placed an angel he made out of the scraps..
This satisfied John very much and everyone who saw his work was amazed, John knew he found a new style of sculpting
While he enjoyed his new found career he didn’t want to part with his bronze sculpturing for good. so he found a way to combine the two
His new style is a mix of everyday objects with limited edition bronze casting
Hybrid metal art
A blend of iron and bronze
