Andrea Reed’s work does more than just give lip service to doing great make-up. Her unique style is taking the fashion world AND the art world by storm.
The Canadian born artist is truly turning makeup into objects de arte’ by replicating famous paintings and more on the mouths of lucky models! The recreation of Katsushika Hokusai’s Great Wave Off Kanagawa and copies of Scottish tartans is just a couple of her mini masterpieces!
Each one takes a different amount of time depending on the detail, and she often adds effect through the use of glitter or stones. Her lipstick art not only reflects works by artistic greats, but she has mastered the technique of tromp le oil, creating photo realistic creations like leaves, a dripping honeycomb, fall leaves, or a spring garden all on her subjects mouths!
They are all so beautiful you don’t know if you should wear it, or collect it! Check out her work on Instagram. If you think you have the gift, she even has a DIY video for you to try at home!
