When we first saw the work of Peter Demetz we were amazed. This Italian artist has the incredible ability to bring an ordinary wood to life with his gifted hands. The sculptures which vary in size from 20 inches to 50 inches tall are all hand-carved and they feature men, women and children in various everyday positions. What truly turns his work into an awe-inspiring art piece is his attention to details , he is able to shape tiny folds in clothing or even produce loose strands of hair , he can define the human anatomy so well you’d think these sculptures really exist. In addition to his gifted hands, Demetz’s sculptures are also conceptually intriguing, he position the figures in scenes taken from real life moments like before you begin to speak or just as you’re about to enter a room. This gives Demetz’s work an added feel to it, some would describe as a sense of longing, loss or a fleeting period in time. You can visit his website here: Peter Demetz
