” I am his hands, He is my eyes ” These are the words of Jia Haixa when he describe his friend JiaWenqi which is a double amputee. They both work together and plant trees in Yeli Village just outside of Shijiazhuang city in northern China.
Jia Haxia lost his sight in one eye due to a congenital cataracts, later he lost his other eye in a work related injury, now he is completely blind. The pair approached the local government and leased a 7.5 acre stretch of land along the river bank, what they want to do is transform it by planting 1,000 trees every year and believe it or not, they have been doing this for a decade. Having both struggled to get a job planting the trees helps them to earn money, although they both say the main reason they do it is to benefit future generations with their environmental efforts. The local authorities allow them to live rent-free which is a great deal considering their poor living conditionsIn the picture above Jia Wenqui ( center ) lead his blind friend ( right ) by his sleeve to the place where they plant trees in Yeli Villiage, Jingxing, Shijiazhuang city
